El jueves 14 de julio fueron anunciados los nominados a la 63 entrega de los premios Emmy para lo mejor a la televisión en EU. En el renglón de las series Mad Men de AMC liderea las nominaciones con 19, seguido por la serie Boardwalk Empire de HBO con 18 y Modern Family de ABC con 17. Una mención a parte merece la miniserie Mildred Pierce que tienen 21 nominaciones. Las nominaciones cubren el periodo del 1 de junio de 2010 al 31 de mayo de 2011.
Tres de las series nominadas para el premio de outstanding drama son debutantes en la categoria y son Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones and Friday Night Lights; en el renglón de comedia los primerizos son The Big Bang Theory (ya era tiempo) y Parks and Recreation.
